Abundant Futures Fund (AFF) is an advocacy organization that promotes left-of-center immigration policies in the United States. The AFF is fiscally sponsored by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and primarily funded by the Emerson Collective, the Ford Foundation, and the JPB Foundation. As of October 2024, the three organizations have jointly pledged $60 million toward their $100 million goal over five years since the organization’s founding in 2022. 1 2

Finances
The Abundant Futures Fund (AFF) is funded by three major left-of-center foundations: the Emerson Collective, a philanthropic network created by Laurene Powell Jobs; the Ford Foundation; and the JPB Foundation. As of October 2024, they have raised $60 million out of a $100 million goal. The Ford Foundation contributed $15 million in February 2024. 4 5
The AFF also received a $250,000 grant from the Heising-Simons Foundation. 6

Grants
As of 2024, the Abundant Futures Fund (AFF) has provided grants to several left-of-center organizations supporting immigration policies including the President’s Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, 8 the Detention Watch Network, 9 the Rian Immigration Center, 10 the National Immigration Project, 11 and Higher Ed Immigration Portal. 12
Leadership
Mayra Peters-Quintero is an immigrant from Panama and has been the executive director of the Abundant Futures Fund (AFF) since March 2022. From 2009 to 2021, she worked as a senior program officer at the Ford Foundation in its gender, racial and ethnic justice program. From 2008 to 2009, Peters-Quintero was the director of the Bureau of Immigrant Workers’ Rights at the New York State Department of Labor. 13 14
Heidi Dorow is the deputy director of the AFF. She previously worked as a senior program officer at the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund and as director of immigration initiatives at Borealis Philanthropy. 15
Kataymoon Majd has served as the director of strategy at the AFF since November 2023. From 2021 to 2023, Majd ran her own consulting firm. In 2022, she was briefly the interim director of the Andrus Family Fund. From 2019 to 2021, Majd was the director of criminal justice initiatives at Borealis Philanthropy. From 2010 to 2018, she worked at the Public Welfare Foundation as program officer and program director. Earlier, Majd was a staff attorney at the ACLU of Northern California. 16
Anita Khashu is a co-founder of the AFF and the director of gender, racial, and ethnic justice-U.S. at the Ford Foundation. She was previously the director of the Four Freedoms Fund at NEO Philanthropy and as a senior advisor at the Vera Institute of Justice. 17
