Young Americans for Liberty Foundation (YALF) is a libertarian-aligned charitable organization that supports the work of its sister advocacy organization, Young Americans for Liberty (YAL). 1
Activities
Young Americans for Liberty Foundation is a major financial supporter of Young Americans for Liberty and granted YAL $3.4 million in 2019. 2 Additionally, YALF sponsors regional conferences that support YAL’s efforts to recruit, educate, and train college students on the ideals of liberty and the U.S. Constitution. 3 Both YALF and YAL seek to advance pro-liberty policies to create a more limited government. 4
Funding
Young Americans for Liberty Foundation is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations. While YALF does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from Donors Trust ($783,220 in 2020), 5 the Seminar Network ($575,000 in 2019), 6 and the Charles Koch Foundation ($355,000 in 2019). 7
Board of Directors
Jeff Frazee is the chair of the board and treasurer of both Young Americans for Liberty and the Young Americans for Liberty Foundation. Frazee is the founder and former executive director of YAL, a former deputy campus services coordinator for the Leadership Institute, and the former national youth coordinator for then-U.S. Representative Ron Paul’s 2008 presidential campaign. 8
Cliff Maloney is the former president of both YAL and YALF. Maloney is currently the CEO of Mobilize the Message and the former national youth coordinator for U.S. Senator Rand Paul‘s 2016 presidential campaign. 9
Katey Roberts is the senior vice president of human resources at Stand Together 10 and the former director of alumni and external relations at the Charles Koch Institute. 11
Joel Trammell also sits on the board. 12
