The ImPact is project of the Intentional Endowments Network in which prominent wealthy families coordinate their investing to align with left-of-center environmental, social, and governance policies, particularly environmental policies.
Background
The ImPact was launched in 2016 by a group of individuals associated with extremely wealthy families as a project of the Intentional Endowments Network (IEN), a membership organization encompassing hundreds of endowments, foundations, investment consultants and managers, and nonprofits oriented around environmentalist, racial justice, and economic issues. 1 2 IEN is a fiscally sponsored project of the Crane Institute of Sustainability, an environmentalist organization based in Manchester, Massachusetts. 3 4
The founders of the ImPact include members of the Rockefeller, Scodro, Simmons, and Pritzker families. As of October 2022, the ImPact claims more than 70 other member families in more than 20 countries. 5 Membership in the project is by invitation only, but the project’s website does provide a query form to express interest. 6
