Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates (PPSEA) is a voter mobilization and education group that advocates pro-abortion policies and candidates in the southeastern United States. 1 It is the electoral arm of Planned Parenthood Southeast and a subsidiary of the national Planned Parenthood Action Fund, which is the lobbying arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. 2 3

Activities

Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates endorses or provides support for political candidates running at the state and federal levels who have supported pro-abortion policies and legislation. 4 5

The organization releases annual reports on its website regarding proposed and passed legislation concerning abortion access proposed by lawmakers in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. 6 It also publishes a newsletter on related legislation as well as notifications on upcoming events and demonstrations.  7

In 2022, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates reported revenue of $268,159, expenses of $381,502, and net assets of $182,750. 8

In 2020, the State Engagement Fund gave Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates $10,000. 9

Leadership

In 2022, Planned Parenthood Southeast Advocates was led by president Staci Fox and acting CEO Stephanie Fraim. Its board was chaired by Candace L. Fowler. 10

Former PPSEA managing director Kendra Cotton worked for a time as the CEO of New Georgia Project, a left-of-center voting and redistricting oriented organization once headed by former Georgia State House Democratic Leader Stacey Abrams. 11 12 13

Cotton had replaced Nse Ufot after allegations of major financial mismanagement. Cotton was also the founding executive director of Represent Georgia Institute, campaign manager for the Georgia Association of Educators, and the political director for the Democratic Party of Georgia. 14 Cotton was later forced out of her position as New Georgia Project CEO in June 2024 11 and was replaced by Roslyn Satchel who worked as interim CEO until January 2025. 15
