Onyx Impact

From its inception, its leadership  was drawn almost entirely from the orbit of Stacey Abrams’s political network: its founder and CEO previously worked as deputy executive director of Abrams’s Fair Fight Action organization, and its treasurer served as CEO of Fair Fight Action and as campaign manager for both of Abrams’s gubernatorial campaigns. ²

Background

Esosa Osa founded Onyx Impact in 2023. Osa graduated from Duke University in 2012 with a degree in public policy and subsequently worked in finance at BlackRock and Morgan Stanley before entering Democratic politics. She worked as deputy executive director of Fair Fight Action, the voting access organization Stacey Abrams founded following her loss in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election, and as a senior advisor to Abrams’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign. ³

The organization received tax-exempt status in June 2024 and filed its first full-year tax return in November 2025, reporting $4.25 million in revenue for 2024, a more than tenfold increase from its $350,000 in 2023 revenue. It accepts donations through ActBlue, a left-of-center political fundraising platform. ²

Programs

Onyx Impact operates three principal programs. Its Info Integrity Lab, launched in August 2025, functions as what the organization describes as a research and creative engine focused on combating alleged disinformation affecting Black communities. The lab was covered by Axios upon its launch. ⁴

The Digital Green Book, introduced in early 2025, is a publicly available resource the organization describes as a guide for identifying digital manipulation and disinformation. The project received coverage from Black Enterprise and Black Press USA upon its release. ⁵

In 2026, Onyx Impact launched Aisha, an artificial intelligence tool the organization describes as a “digital ally” designed to connect Black communities to what it characterizes as trusted sources of information. ⁶

Leadership

On its 2024 tax return, Onyx Impact’s three listed officers were president and CEO Esosa Osa, secretary and director Allegra Lawrence Hardy, and treasurer and director Lauren Groh-Wargo. Osa received $292,305 in compensation in 2024; the other two officers received none. ²

Lauren Groh-Wargo worked as campaign manager for both of Stacey Abrams’s Georgia gubernatorial campaigns in 2018 and 2022. She also co-founded Fair Fight Action and worked as its CEO until 2022. In May 2026, the Georgia Senate Special Committee on Investigations issued a subpoena to Groh-Wargo as part of an investigation into alleged campaign finance law violations connected to the New Georgia Project and associated entities. ⁷

As of 2026, Allegra Lawrence Hardy was working as an Atlanta attorney at the firm Krevolin & Horst. She received a law degree from Yale University and an undergraduate degree from Spelman College. Lawrence Hardy has represented Democratic political candidates and the Democratic Party in election law matters, including representing presidential candidate Al Gore before the Eleventh Circuit during the 2000 recount litigation, and working on the recount team of Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. ⁸
