Live Action is a pro-life organization founded in 2003 by then-15 year old activist Lila Rose, and would become a formal nonprofit group in 2008. 1 Live Action uses media campaigns, investigative reporting, and activism to oppose abortion and to provide information on potential risks and harm of abortion procedures. 2
Live Action has also produced media projects in its reporting, which includes “What is Abortion,” a video series that features interviews with obstetricians and abortion providers describing how abortions are conducted and the potential risks involved. Live Action claims that after previously pro-choice women watch their “What is Abortion” videos, roughly 19 percent of them claim abortion should never be allowed in any circumstance. 3 4
Live Action has previously released reporting on Planned Parenthood Federation of America, the largest abortion provider in the United States. Live Action claims that Planned Parenthood provides one prenatal service for every 57 abortions and one adoption referral for every 187 abortions provided. 5
Live Action also opposes the practice of sex-selective abortions, where parents abort a fetus based upon it being an undesired sex. 5
In April 2025, a woman named Brianna Rivers was arrested in New York City and charged with assault for assaulting a Live Action video interviewer. While the assault was caught on camera, following the attack, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) declined to prosecute Rivers. 6
The founder and president of Live Action is Lila Rose. Rose is a pro-life activist who founded the organization in 2003 when she was 15 years. In 2006, while attending the University of California, Los Angeles, Rose posed as a woman with an unplanned pregnancy and released a report claiming that the University was not providing information about the potential risks and harm of abortion services on campus. In 2008, Live Action was formalized as a nonprofit organization. 7 8 1
Live Action has a 501(c)(4) sister affiliate, Live Action Advocate, which was formed in 2012 and promotes voter registration as well as information on political candidates as well as their stances on abortion. 8 9
