The LGB Courage Coalition is an advocacy organization focused on lesbian and gay issues, emphasizing the promotion of evidence-based medical practices and the protection of same-sex-attracted persons’ rights. The group seeks to halt the medicalization of gender nonconformity and opposes the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and “gender-affirming” surgeries on minors, citing potential harm. It aims to support lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals who have undergone medical interventions by offering de-transitioning pathways. The coalition operates primarily through online platforms, engaging in advocacy to influence policy and public discourse on gender-related medical care. 1

The LGB Courage Coalition, originally the LGBT Courage Coalition, was founded on July 1, 2023 by Jamie Reed, Aaron Kimberly, Aaron Terrell, Ben Appel, Arty Morty, and Buck Angel. 2 It began as a Substack blog opposing transgender medical interventions for minors in the United States and Canada. 3
The group’s launch followed Reed making public allegations against the Washington University Transgender Center for ethical concerns involving youth and transgenderism. 4 On July 24, 2023, the then-LGBT Courage Coalition released a statement outlining its focus on adult lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender perspectives critical of “gender medicine for children, adolescents, and teenagers.” 2 The coalition later developed a website, lgbtcourage.org, to share content and solicit donations while maintaining an informal structure without formal nonprofit status. 2
On March 10th, 2025, the group rebranded as “LGB Courage Coalition,” dropping the “T.” The group has faced criticism for its inclusion of transgender members while holding a stance opposed to transgender surgery and hormone therapy for youths. 2
LGB Courage Coalition seeks to change policy and practices among three organizations identified as promoters of ideological-based transgender medical intervention, namely World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). 5 Early activism included highlighting whistleblower cases and opposing policies like Maine’s LD 227, a 2023 state bill which made “gender-affirming care” a “legally protected healthcare” right. 6 7 The LGB Courage Coalition also works with Protect Kids Colorado to oppose transgender ideology in school curriculums and youth transgender medical intervention in the state of Colorado. 8
As of September 2025, Jamie Reed and Lauren Leggieri were the co-executive directors of the LGB Courage Coalition. 9
At the time, Reed was also a senior fellow at Do No Harm, a medical advocacy group that seeks to keep identity politics separate from medical education, research, and clinical practice. She previously worked as a legal specialist at Pediatric Gender Medicine and as a clinical research coordinator at Washington University School of Medicine. 10
Lauren Leggieri is a prominent lesbian opponent of pediatric gender transitions. Leggieri has led demonstrations opposing pediatric gender transitions at the 2024 Endocrine Society Conference, the 2024 American Academy of Pediatrics Conference, and the U.S. Supreme Court during the US v. Skrmetti hearing in December 2024. She has contributed to podcasts addressing the harms of medical transitions to the lesbian and gay communities. 9
