The KPMG Foundation U.S. is a corporate grantmaking foundation founded and funded by Big Four accounting firm KPMG. The Foundation donates much of its funding through matching contribution programs with KPMG employees. One of its largest recipients is Global Impact, which directs the Foundation’s donations to various disaster relief funds. 1
Activities
Grantmaking
According to its 2022 tax return, the KPMG Foundation contributed grants to several universities and colleges within the United States. These included Abilene Christian University, Tulane University, Arizona State University, Auburn University, Boise State University, Case Western Reserve University, the College of William and Mary, Columbia College, Duke University, Kent State University, Northwestern University, and George Washington University. Individual contributions were under $30,000 on average. 2
That same year. the Foundation donated to several charity-based groups including the American Cancer Society ($50,000), Big Brothers Big Sisters of America ($525,000), the Eskenazi Health Foundation ($50,000), Girls Who Code ($75,000), Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City ($7,500), and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund ($25,000). 2
The Foundation’s largest grant in 2022 was for $1,367,255 to the Global Giving Foundation. 2 The Foundation has previously donated to the Global Giving Foundation in order to raise funds from KPMG while donating matching funds for specific causes such as natural disaster relief funds. 3
In June 2024, the Foundation donated a $1.4 million grant to the Battier Take Foundation, a nonprofit that supports education for low-income children founded by former NBA player Shane Battier. 4
Foundation Relief Fund
With financial assistance from KPMG, the Foundation runs the KPMG Foundation Relief Fund, a fund meant to provide financial assistance to KPMG employees. 5
Racial Equity and Justice
Following the death of George Floyd in June 2020, the Foundation committed a $500,000 grant intended to “combat racial inequity” through KPMG’s Inclusion and Diversity team and the African Ancestry Business Resource Group. 6
The Foundation is a co-founder of the Ph.D. Project, a program that promotes racial diversity among American business school faculty. 7
Leadership
Anita Whitehead is the president of the KPMG Foundation as of 2025. Whitehead has worked at KPMG since 2001. She also serves as the managing director of development and exempt organization practices, and principal/head of social impact at KPMG. Whitehead is the board chair for Global Impact, a project of Global Impact Ventures, as well as the chair of the corporate service council of Points of Light, a volunteerism promotion nonprofit founded by former President George H.W. Bush. Whitehead previously sat on the boards of the Association for Corporate Citizenship Professionals, the Association for Corporate Contributions Professionals, the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, and the Catalogue for Philanthropy: Greater Washington. 1 8
