    Home of the Brave USA is a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying and advocacy organization. The group was founded by Sarah Longwell, CEO and publisher of The Bulwark.  2

    The group’s advisory board includes Sarah Matthews, a former Trump White House deputy press secretary; former U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA); and Susan Rice, who held senior roles in the Obama and Biden administrations.  2

    Home of the Brave USA launched in June 2025 as a $15 million campaign to tell stories of Americans who said they were harmed by President Donald Trump’s policies. The project aims to amplify the stories of people who say they were harmed by Trump administration policies. 3

    Home of the Brave USA launched a Substack publication known as “Home of the Brave” to tell the stories.  3

    Recruiting Anti-Trump Stories

    Home of the Brave USA recruits individuals to tell their stories. The website asks, “Have you or someone you love been affected by the Trump administration? Tell us how!” It also asks, “Know someone in your life who’s been impacted by Trump’s policies? Send them this form and tell them to get in touch with us.” 4

    The stories include a woman who said her daughter’s health relied on National Institutes of Health research that the Trump administration cut; businessmen who say they were harmed by Trump’s tariffs; and federal contractors who lost jobs because of the spending cuts from the Department of Government Efficiency.  3

    Advertising Campaigns

    In October 2025, ahead of a round of No Kings rallies, Home of the Brave USA spent $1 million on an adverting campaign promoting the theme.  2

    In March 2026, ahead of another round of No Kings rallies, Home of the Brave USA spent another $1 million on full-page ads in 300 newspapers across the country, including the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal. 2

    In fall 2025, Home of the Brave USA announced it launched a six-figure ad campaign calling out federal law enforcement who wore masks while on duty. The ad campaign ran for 10 days with wall postings, sidewalk decals, and street posters saying, “Take off your masks!” and “Why are you hiding your face? Public servants should face the public.” This included a mobile billboard. It was aimed at National Guard troops as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. 5

    People

    Sarah Longwell is the founder of Home of the Brave USA. 2 As of 2026, Longwell was the publisher of The Bulwark and host of the Focus Group podcast. 1

    Susan Rice is a former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 2009 to 2013 during the Obama administration and later National Security Advisor from 2013 to 2017. She was the Domestic Policy Advisor to President Joe Biden from January 2021 to May 2023. 1

    As of 2026, Bill Kristol was editor-at-large of The Bulwark. 1 He was a former editor at the Weekly Standard and was the chief of staff for Vice President Dan Quayle.

    As of 2026, former U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-VA) was a board member of the Home of the Brave. She is a former member of Congress representing Virginia’s 10th District. At that time, she was a senior advisor at Baker Donelson. 1

    As of 2026, Benjamin Wittes was a board member of the Home of the Brave. At that time is the editor in chief of Lawfare. He is a senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution. 1

    As of 2026, Sarah Matthews was a board member of the Home of the Brave.  She was formerly deputy press secretary during the first Trump administration. In July 2022, she testified before the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. She is a senior advisor at Merrimack Potomac + Charles. 1

    As of 2026, Michael Fanone was a board member of the Home of the Brave. Fanone was a law enforcement officer for the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia. He was assaulted by rioters during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot. 1

    As of 2026, Michael Luttig was a board member of the Home of the Brave. Luttig is a former federal judge serving on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit from 1991 to 2006. 1

    As of 2026, Stephen Richer was a board member of the Home of the Brave. Richer formerly was the Maricopa County Recorder from 2021 to 2025. 1

    As of 2026, Michael Feinberg was a board member of Home of the Brave. is a former assistant special agent in charge at the FBI. He resigned from the FBI in 2025. 1
