Haitian Bridge Alliance is a California-based coalition of Haitian groups, which advocates for Haitian migrants residing in the United States. 1 In 2020, it received a grant worth over “six figures” from Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. 2
Activities
In September 2024, the leader of the Haitian Bridge Alliance filed private-citizen charges against then-former president Donald Trump and then-Ohio Senator JD Vance (R-OH) for claims made by both regarding Haitian immigrants living within Springfield, Ohio. According to the filing, the charges against the two include, “disrupting public services, making false alarms, telecommunications harassment, aggravated menacing and complicity.” 3 An attorney for the group’s leader, Subodh Chandra, claimed that this action is due to the former president and his running mate’s “persistence and relentlessness, even in the face of the governor and the mayor saying this is false, that shows intent…it’s knowing, willful flouting of criminal law.” 3 The communications director for the Trump-Vance campaign Steven Cheung responded to the charges claiming, “President Trump is rightfully highlighting the failed immigration system that (Vice President) Kamala Harris has overseen, bringing thousands of illegal immigrants pouring into communities like Springfield and many others across the country.” 3 The Associated Press (AP), which released the story, wrote in the article that the “15,000-20,000 Haitian immigrants” in Springfield have been granted Temporary Protected Status to be in the United States legally. 4 The AP article further notes that Ohio state law requires a hearing before charges can move forward, but no such hearings have been scheduled as of September 25, 2024. 3
In June 2025, the Haitian Bridge Aliance was one of 215 non-governmental organizations (NGO) the U.S House of Homeland Security Committee noted as having received federal funding during the Biden Administration to settle undocumented migrants in the United Stated while helping “fuel the worst border crisis in our nation’s history.” 5 House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-TN) and Subcommittee Chairman Josh Brecheen (R-OK) sent letters to the over 200 organizations demanding the full amount in “federal grants, contracts or payments” they received “between Jan. 19, 2021, and Jan. 20, 2025” as well as additional information on potential legal action they might have taken against the Federal Government and all services they provided to undocumented migrants during that period of time. The letters further read “[t]he Committee remains deeply concerned that NGOs that receive U.S. taxpayer dollars benefitted from the border crisis created by the Biden Administration, and stand ready to do so under future Democrat administrations.” 5 6

According to its 2023 990 form, the Haitian Bridge Alliance reported a revenue of $3,435,306, expenses of $2,539,210, and total assets of $6,625,167. 7
