The Grove Action Fund is a lobbying and advocacy funding organization affiliated with the Grove Foundation, a private foundation created by former Intel CEO Andrew Grove. 1 The Grove Action Fund donates hundreds of thousands of dollars to various left-leaning organizations and fund at least one left-leaning political organization that supports liberal candidates in state races. 2
Background
The Grove Action Fund is the lobbying and electoral-advocacy organization that is affiliated with the Grove Foundation. 3 The Grove Foundation is primarily a grantmaking organization founded by the late Andrew Grove, the longtime chief executive of Intel. 4 The Grove Foundation designates millions of dollars in grants annually to many organizations, and supports a wide range of left leaning groups and causes including affirmative action, promoting immigration, environmental activism, gun restriction, and pro-abortion groups. 5
These groups include the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, and Everytown for Gun Safety. 6
Political Activities
In 2018, the Grove Action Fund contributed $81,250 to organizations for direct and indirect “527” political campaign activities. 7
Grantmaking
The Grove Action fund donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to various left leaning groups, including to support a New Mexico PAC that supports liberal candidates in state races, and Sixteen Thirty Fund, which has contributed to organizations that support net neutrality and argue for progressive tax reform. 8
In 2018, it provided $200,000 each to the liberal advocacy coalitions Arizona Wins and America Votes. 9
