Generation Pledge (GP) describes itself as a “community” composed of individuals who have or will be inheritors of ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) who have pledged to give ten percent of their inheritance to philanthropy within five years and use their political, social, and career capital for charitable purposes that was founded in 2018. Generation Pledge differentiates itself from the Warren Buffett– and Bill Gates-led Giving Pledge, which focuses on wealth creators, by targeting those of second-and-subsequent generation wealth based on the differing psychology of inheritors from wealth creators. The organization is working to change the primary goal of growth and preservation of wealth to alternate concepts that position the impact of philanthropic investment as a return on investment. 1
