The Future of Freedom Foundation (FFF) is a right-of-center educational organization that was founded in 1989 to advance freedom in the U.S. by promoting libertarianism. FFF promotes the libertarian principles of individual liberty, free markets, private property, and limited government. 1
Activities
The Future of Freedom Foundation claims that the U.S. moved away from the founding principles of individual freedom, free markets, private property, and limited government in the 20th century. FFF further claims that the resulting move towards socialism, interventionism, and imperialism has infringed on economic and civil liberties and created a weakened sense of morality and self-reliance. 1
The Future of Freedom Foundation promotes the ideals of libertarianism through its website, which includes essays and articles, speeches and lectures, a monthly journal, op-eds, books, and monographs. 1 FFF also produces a daily email newsletter and a weekly analysis of current events called “The Libertarian Angle,” which features video conversations between FFF president Jacob Hornberger and Richard Ebeling, former president of the Foundation for Economic Education. 2
Funding
The Future of Freedom Foundation is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While FFF does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Vanguard Charitable Endowment Program ($140,000 in 2022), 3 the J.P. Humphreys Foundation ($10,000 in 2022), 4 and the Charles Koch Foundation ($10,000 in 2017). 5
