Freedom Alliance is a nonprofit organization that honors and encourages military service in an effort to advance American freedom, defend U.S. sovereignty, and promote a strong national defense. 1

Activities

Freedom Alliance advocates for national security policies that avoid wars when possible, win wars that are unavoidable, and honors war veterans. As a supporter of American exceptionalism, Freedom Alliance claims to fight for a free and sovereign U.S. and aims to defend its history and heroes. 2

Freedom Alliance provides scholarships to children of American war heroes and has awarded more than $20 million to date. Freedom Alliance intends for these scholarships to remind students of their parents’ sacrifice along with providing financial assistance. 3 While Freedom Alliance supports the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill to support higher education for veterans and children of war heroes, it is critical of Senator Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) push to forgive student loans for those who have borrowed beyond their means, calling it an insult to those who have served and children of those who have lost their lives in military service. 4

Freedom Alliance supports a strong military and claims that recruitment is suffering due to failed leadership. Freedom Alliance states that while the Biden administration’s Department of Defense (DOD) claims that recruitment efforts have intentionally focused on quality over quantity, it has actually failed to lead and inspire young people to enlist. While the Army, Air Force, and Navy are now offering enlistment bonuses to compete with supposed private sector wage competition, Freedom Alliance claims that President Biden and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin are guilty of harming the U.S. military’s reputation by questioning the integrity of the troops, ultimately making enlistment unappealing. 5

Funding

Freedom Alliance is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations. While Freedom Alliance does not disclose its donors, tax filings confirm donations from the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund ($1.25 million in 2022), 6 the Deramus Foundation ($250,000 in 2019), 7 and the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation ($175,000 in 2020). 8
