The Electrification Coalition Alliance is the advocacy arm of the Electrification Coalition, an environmentalist advocacy group promoting electric vehicles. The Alliance publishes research, engages in education campaigns, and works on legislative advocacy initiatives to push for the expanded use of electric vehicles. 1

The Electrification Coalition was founded in November 2009 by business executives, including FedEx CEO Frederick W. Smith, then-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, and NRG Energy CEO David W. Crane. 3 Robbie Diamond was the Coalition’s founding president. 4

Robbie Diamond is the founding president of the Electrification Coalition, launching the organization in November 2009. He is also the founder and CEO of Securing America’s Future Energy, a left-of-center advocacy organization created in 2006. Before that, Diamond was the deputy director of community outreach on then-U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman’s 2004 Democratic presidential primary campaign. He formerly worked as director of the Washington firm Fontheim International LLC. Before he came to Washington, he was a senior executive at Seagram Spirits and Wine Group. Diamond is also a member of the Electrification Coalition Board of Directors. 6

Joseph Ryan was listed as the executing officer and as governor for the Electrification Coalition Alliance. 7 Ryan is the former executive vice president of Securing America’s Future Energy. He previously worked for the National Audubon Society, an environmentalist nonprofit organization. Before that, Ryan was the vice president for Latin America and the Oil Campaign director at the left-of-center ClimateWorks Foundation, a pass-through funding entity for environmentalist organizations. Ryan also worked as a program officer at the Hewlett Foundation for 11 years. 8
