EcoAmerica (styled “ecoAmerica”) is an environmentalist advocacy group that aims to influence Americans’ views on environmental policy and persuade more people to become environmentalist activists. It attempts to achieve this through its campaigns, programs, events, and partnerships 1 with organizations like the American Public Health Association. 2
EcoAmerica’s president and founder, Bob Perkowitz, sits on the board of environmentalist organizations like the ClearPath Foundation, 3 a right-of-center advocacy nonprofit created in 2014 by Jay Faison, a conversative climate change activist. 4
Campaigns
EcoAmerica runs campaigns across the United States like ClimateRx, 5 an initiative that helps healthcare providers and health professionals provide information and training to their patients on issues related to the environment and its impact on their health. 6 EcoAmerica’s flagship campaign is MomentUs, an initiative designed to increase support for climate change activism. 7
Programs and Events
EcoAmerica also runs programs that facilitate more support for its activism like Climate for Health. Climate for Health organizes medical and health organizations and their 1.5 million members to get Americans involved with climate change activism. The other programs are Blessed Tomorrow, which partners with faith denominations to get involved with environmentalist issues, and Path to Positive Communities, a program that assists communities in their advocacy through national and regional partnerships. 8
EcoAmerica co-hosts a yearly event where climate change activists come together to collaborate called the American Climate Leadership Summit, alongside major left-of-center organizations like the American Psychological Association (APA). 9 The APA is the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology and psychologists in the United States. 10 The event also gives out tens of thousands of dollars in awards to those who have achieved what the co-hosts define as success in environmentalist advocacy. 11
Partnerships
EcoAmerica is partnered with many organizations such as the American Public Health Association, 12 an organization for public health professionals in the United States that supports left-of-center policy goals across a wide range of issues such as gun control 13 and climate change. 14 It is also partnered with the World Wildlife Fund, 15 an international organization dedicated to environmentalist and conversationist activism. 16
People
Bob Perkowitz is the president and founder of ecoAmerica.
