The Climate Change Education Project is an environmentalist 501(c)(3) organization 1 that works to promote left-of-center climate change advocacy. It is the fiscal sponsor of the More Than Scientists project. The organization is based in Seattle, Washington.
Both organizations are run by Eric Michelman, a former computer scientist for Apple and Microsoft turned entrepreneur who has become a climate change activist. 2
The organization was founded in 2008. However, the 501(c)(3) tax status was not sought until 2014. 3
Financials
As of the 2015 tax returns, the organization raised $140,000 and spent $135,000 to various undisclosed contractors. From 2014 through 2017 Climate Change Education Project filed taxes on the IRS’s Form 990-EZ for small organizations;4 in 2017, it reported only $30,700 in revenue and less than $10,000 in expenditures. 5
