Climate Arc is an advocacy organization focused on decreasing carbon emissions through partnerships and funding directed at environmental and research organizations. The organization promotes investment practices aligned with ESG activism, carbon reduction, and accountability in finance and policy. 1 2
Leadership
Meryam Omi is the CEO of Climate Arc. Omi also sits on the board of trustees of Climate Group, a nonprofit that promotes green technologies and policies. 3 Omi previously worked at Legal and General Investment Management for 14 years as head of sustainability and responsible investment strategy. 4
Climate Arc’s board includes Bill Bein, former CEO of Agriculture at Signify; Darlene Currie, founder of the Global Social Impact Fund and co-founder of Kota Global Securities; and Emma Howard Boyd, who also holds board positions with left-of-center organizations such as ClientEarth, Green Finance Institute, and the European Climate Foundation . 5 6 7
Other members of the leadership team include Kaye Bettney as director of people and culture, Marta Guglielmetti as partnerships director, and Felix Preston as research and program director. 8
Activities
Climate Arc collaborates with the Environmental Change Institute (ECI) at Oxford and XDI (Cross Dependency Initiative) to develop tools that assess corporate climate adaptation and physical risks, including extreme weather impacts and supply chain vulnerabilities. Through this collaboration Climate Arc launched TransitionArc, a tool to track corporate alignment with climate goals such as emissions and governance. 1
In 2024, Climate Arc launched the Climate Finance Hub Brazil, a project aimed at supporting Brazil’s transition to a low-carbon economy. Climate Arc provided funds for this initiative. 9
Partners
Climate Arc partners with several left-of-center foundations, including the AKO Foundation, Ballmer Group, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), Generation Foundation, Patrick J. McGovern Foundation, and the Sequoia Climate Foundation. 10 These groups have historically funded a variety of left-of-center organizations including environmental groups and advocacy groups such as the New Venture Fund, the Tides Foundation, and the Conservation International Foundation. 11
Grantmaking
Climate Arc has awarded grants to a range of organizations focused on climate and other environmentalist initiatives, including InfluenceMap, the Rocky Mountain Institute, Science-Based Targets Institution, Transition Pathway Initiative, World Benchmarking Alliance, and Resilient Planet Data Hub. Additional recipients include the Carbon Tracker Initiative, the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials, Climate Bonds Initiative, Global Canopy, Chatham House, Climate Policy Initiative, and Climate Policy Radar. 12
