Bright Future Fund

The group came under scrutiny when it was reported that in 2024, the Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund reportedly gave $37.5 million to the Bright Future Fund. The Fidelity Investments Charitable Gift Fund is a donor-advised fund (DAF), meaning contributions from the fund are anonymous. Moreover, as a registered 501(c)(4) “social welfare” group, the Bright Future Fund was able to participate in some campaign activities.  ²

Background

The Bright Future Fund was a Washington D.C.-based so-called “dark money” group that was active during the 2024 election cycle. The group was reportedly incorporated by a partner of the Elias Law Group, a left-of-center law firm aligned with the Democratic Party.  ²

After submitting its 2024 tax return, the organization closed, according to The Free Press.  ² The website domain listed on the organization’s Internal Revenue Service tax returns led to a 404 error page as of April 20, 2026. ³

Funding

The Bright Future Fund’s first tax filing was in 2023; it reported having $142,392,698 in contributions with $143,050,548 in net assets at the end of the year. In 2024, the group received $37,500,000 in contributions and reported $1,064,247 in assets at the end of the year; moreover. The Bright Future Fund is registered as a 501(c)(4), a tax status that permits participation in some campaign activities.  ¹
