The Beckman-Matsui Family Foundation is a grantmaking foundation based in Rancho Santa Fe, California. The Beckmans, William Beckman and Connie Matsui-Beckman, built their foundation and wealth as a result of their work in the biotech industry. 1

While most of the foundation’s giving is to noncontroversial charities such as food banks and schools, the foundation does give money to left-of-center organizations. Among the organizations that it donates to are environmentalist organizations such as Earthjustice and the Natural Resources Defense Council and pro-abortion organizations such as Planned Parenthood and the Center for Reproductive Rights. 2

In addition to supporting radical environmentalist and pro-abortion organizations, the foundation also supports the National Immigration Law Center, a left-of-center immigration expansionist organization. The National Immigration Law Center is a sponsor, along with numerous other left-of-center organizations, of the “Check the Sheriff” coalition which is working to weaken the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office. 3
