As the only pan-Asian progressive power-building organization in Chicago, Advancing Justice | Chicago is building a powerful voice for racial justice by organizing grassroots leaders, connecting communities, encouraging civic engagement, and winning issue campaigns.
For the next three fiscal years, we aim to grow and sustain a powerful, resilient, and diverse base of over 150 Asian American leaders who are trained and supported to take action and significant leadership in developing and executing issue campaigns, to advocate for campaigns that advance social, economic, and political equity, and to continue promoting civic engagement through our programs and initiatives.
Advancing Justice | Chicago is building a base of community leaders who are impacted by social justice issues and sharing our racial equity analysis. Our base-building programs equip community members with the knowledge and skills necessary to be informed, strategic leaders and active participants in our local and statewide policy campaigns, power-building programs, and organizing strategies. With the support of our base, we will continue our ongoing advocacy work in Democracy and Voting Rights, Immigration Justice, Language Justice, Criminal Justice Reform and Public Safety for All, and Education Justice, meanwhile leading robust civic engagement programs.
A renewal grant from the Paul M. Angell Family Foundation would support direct program costs and staff time associated with the above activities, including equipment and program materials, community outreach, transportation, program refreshments, and stipends for community leaders and facilitators. We increased our ask this year due to the consideration of shifting back to in-person programming and providing more compensated opportunities for our community leaders. Furthermore, we aim to strengthen the connection between the Foundation and our organization by establishing a multi-year partnership to ensure our work's long-term sustainability.
