Founded in 2007, AfterImage Public Media is a media production group that funds and distributes films and documentaries that address social, cultural, and political issues. ¹ Its films include The Seer and the Unseen, which addresses environmental issues in Iceland following the 2008 financial crisis; Life Overtakes Me, which criticizes Swedish immigration policies; Lead me Home, which advocates on addressing homelessness and funding nonprofits like Community Solutions; and The Island President, a documentary on former President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed advocating for international policy to address climate change.” ^{2 5 6 3 7 4}

AfterImage Public Media has received funding from several left-of-center groups, including Atlantic Philanthropies, The Fledgling Fund, Fleishhacker Foundation, The Ford Foundation, Independent Television Service (ITVS), Koret Foundation, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Sundance Documentary Fund, Wells Fargo Foundation, and Zellerbach Family Foundation. ¹

Leadership

Jon Shenk is the president of AfterImage Public Media as of 2024. Shenk has previously worked on several films and documentaries released by Netflix, Paramount,  Goldwyn Films, and PBS. ¹
