The 60 Plus Association (also known as the American Association of Senior Citizens) is a right-of-center seniors’ advocacy organization founded by Jim Martin in 1992. 60 Plus promotes advocacy towards addressing senior citizens issues such as access to healthcare and social security as well as advocating in favor of ending the federal estate tax (also known as the “death tax”). The 60 Plus Association is concerned with seniors’ issues that include healthcare, Social Security, government spending, and national security, specifically related to natural resources. 60 Plus also advocates for the repeal of the federal estate (also known as the “death tax”), 7 passing the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act, 3 increasing the amount of health care access and affordability for seniors, 8 withdrawing the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), 4 pass legislation to protect Social Security, 9 and increasing U.S-based extraction of minerals and other energy deposits to reduce dependency on China and Russia. 5
The 60 Plus Association is funded by donations from individuals, foundations, and businesses. While 60 Plus does not disclose its donors, tax returns allegedly show donations from the American Economic Freedom Alliance ($480,350 in 2020), 10 the Conservative Reform Network ($319,000 in 2018), 11 and the People’s Alliance for Leadership ($215,000 in 2015). 12
The 60 Plus Association was listed one of 15 alleged “dark money” groups that were investigated in a 2018 report from Issue One, 13 titled “Dark Money Illuminated,” which claimed that the 60 Plus Association was one of 15 organizations that accounted for more than 75 percent of the political “dark money” spent between January 2010 and December 2016, totaling more than $600 million. 60 Plus was one of three organizations reported to have “major discrepancies” between its IRS and FEC filings regarding political spending and ads advocating for or against federal candidates, respectively. The other two groups accused of these discrepancies were Americans for Tax Reform and the National Rifle Association. 13
Issue One’s website also alleges that between July 2009 and June 2017, the 60 Plus Association raised $92 million without publicly disclosing its donors. The report identified 29 donors to 60 Plus Association, which accounted for 51 percent of its funding. The largest donors include American Encore (formerly Center to Protect Patient Rights) ($16 million), Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce ($16 million), the American Future Fund ($4.6 million), and TC4 Trust ($4.1 million). 14
Jim Martin is the founder and board chair of the 60 Plus Association as of 2026. Martin was formerly involved with advocacy groups like the National Conservative Political Action Committee (NCPAC) and the Public Service Research Council (PSRC). Martin served as chief of staff to the late former U.S. Senator Edward J. Gurney (R-FL). 15
As of 2026, Saul Anuzis was serving as the president of the 60 Plus Association. Anuzis is also the vice president of the Institute for Research on Presidential Elections, 16 and a managing partner at Coast to Coast Strategies LLC. Anuzis is a former chair of the Michigan State Republican Party. 17

As of 2026, Gary Wolfram was the president of the Hillsdale Policy Group and the William Simon Professor of Economics and Public Policy, director of economics, and professor of political economy at Hillsdale College. At the time, Wolfram was sitting on the boards of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force, the Media Research Center’s Free Market Project, the Journal of School Choice, the Hillsdale County Economic Development Corporation, the Michigan Council on Economic Education, and the Mackinac Center. 23
